Ke Ola O Ka ʻĀina is a research project that uses community-based participatory research (CBPR) approaches and partners with Native Hawaiian communities to explore the role of connections to ‘Āina as a demonstration of Native Hawaiian resilience. With the collaboration, ʻike, and manaʻo of aloha ʻĀina from Hawaiʻi Island, Oʻahu, Kauaʻi, and Maui, the construct of ʻĀina connection was developed into a scale that we hope can be used by organizations, programs, and agencies that wish to measure Native Hawaiian resilience through ʻāina connection.
Ke Ola O Ka ʻĀina means the life of the land. Our project was named by J. Kahaulahilahi Vegas, who captured the essence of the project. Mahalo nūnui e Kahaulahilahi.
